TARGET · WCAG 2.2 LEVEL AA
A disability provider's website should be the accessible one.
This site is used by people with disability, by people who are exhausted, and by people reading on a phone at 3am. It is built for that, and here is precisely how — so you can hold us to it.
Seven things, not seven adjectives.
Nothing moves if you asked it not to
The homepage runs a scroll-driven animation. If your device is set to reduce motion, that engine does not start at all — every section simply sits where it belongs, fully readable, and no parallax, drift, fade or scroll-hijack runs anywhere on the site.
Everything works without a mouse
Every link, button, menu and accordion is reachable and operable by keyboard, in a sensible order. Focus is always visible — a solid outline, never removed. The mobile menu traps focus while it is open and returns focus to the button that opened it.
Real HTML, in the right order
Semantic landmarks, one <h1> per page, headings that descend without skipping, lists that are lists, and a "skip to main content" link as the first thing a keyboard or screen-reader user reaches. The FAQ accordions are native <details> elements: they open, and their answers are in the page, even with JavaScript switched off.
Tap targets you can actually hit
Every interactive element is at least 44 × 44 pixels — WCAG 2.2 added a target-size criterion, and this site was built to it rather than retrofitted.
Text that scales, and never scrolls sideways
Body text starts at 16px and never goes below it. Type scales fluidly. The page reflows without horizontal scrolling down to a 320px-wide screen, and at 200% zoom.
Honest alt text
Every photograph has alt text that describes the photograph. Decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers rather than narrated at you. No image on this site is captioned or implied to be a PowerCare participant or staff member.
No third-party anything
Fonts are served from this site. There is no analytics script, no tracking cookie, and no embedded third-party widget — which also means no surprise pop-up, no cookie banner to trap your keyboard, and nothing that steals your focus.
What we can and cannot claim.
PowerCare's website targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. It has been built to that standard deliberately — the reduced-motion support, the focus outlines, the 44px targets and the semantic structure described above are all in the code, not in an intention.
What we do not claim is a certification. No independent auditor has signed this site off, and until one has, saying "fully compliant" would be exactly the kind of unearned claim this whole site refuses to make. If you find something that does not meet the standard, you have found a real gap — please tell us.
If something on this site keeps you out, tell us.
Tell us what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what happened — and, if you know it, what you were using (screen reader, magnifier, keyboard, phone). You do not need to know the technical name for the problem.
